Applications Patch Engineer

OverviewWe are seeking an Applications Patch Engineer to strengthen our security and TechOps team supporting medical device software platforms. This role will focus on Linux administration, application installation, vulnerability management, patch deployment, and remediation across cloud and hybrid environments. You will ensure our systems remain secure and compliant while minimizing operational disruption for our global customer base.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, prioritize, and deploy OS and application patches across Linux serversBuild automation for patch management and compliance reportingPlan patch windows in collaboration with R&D, Security team, and Customer Support to minimize operational disruptionInstall, configure, and maintain enterprise and clinical applications in Linux environments (RHEL)Create installation scripts, configuration templates, and automation playbooks (Ansible, Bash, Python)Support multi-tier application deployments (databases, middleware, APIs, web servers)Document procedures for repeatable deployments in customer and internal environmentsMonitor industry threat advisories (FDA, CISA, NIST, vendor bulletins) and ensure timely remediationAssist with incident response and forensic remediation in Linux environmentsEnforce security hardening (CIS benchmarks, SELinux, firewalls, encryption)Ensure patching and configuration activities comply with HIPAA, SOC 2, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, IECMaintain detailed audit evidence for QMS, regulatory submissions, and customer security assessmentsContribute to FDA cybersecurity postmarket processes and vulnerability disclosure handlingPartner with DevOps, TechOps, and Infrastructure teams to evolve deployment automation pipelinesImprove Linux deployment standards, monitoring, and troubleshooting guidesEssential Skills3–5 years of experience in Linux application installation / configuration and security patch managementHands-on experience with Linux administration (Oracle Linux) and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell)Familiarity with application stack components: Tomcat, Oracle, middleware servicesKnowledge of vulnerability management and patching tools (Ansible, Ivanti)Understanding of compliance frameworks: HIPAA, SOC 2, FDAAdditional Skills and QualificationsExperience with regulated medical devices or healthcare environmentsFamiliarity with FDA cybersecurity pre / postmarket guidanceCertifications: Linux+, RHCSA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or GIACWork Environment100% RemoteJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Edmonton, AB.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00 / hr.Workplace TypeThis is a fully remote position.À propos d\'Actalent :Actalent est un chef de file mondial des services d’ingénierie et de sciences et des solutions de talents.
