It involves administrative and technical work related to the development, maintenance, and implementation of the City’s facilities maintenance program. The incumbent develops the preventative maintenance and repair program; prepares facility condition assessments for City buildings and ancillary equipment; assists in the development of capital budget planning estimates; schedules and coordinates projects related to minor capital renovation and component replacement; conducts research, analysis, and compiles data; prepares and makes recommendations for the facilities preventive maintenance program; and tracks progress of projects carried out by other staff. Considerable independent judgment and action is exercised while unusual problems and policy matters are discussed with a supervisor. Performs related work as required. Qualifications: Diploma program in building or architectural technology, supplemented by related courses, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, methods, materials, and equipment related to building structures, fixtures, and ancillary equipment, as well as bylaws, codes, regulations, and departmental policies. Knowledge of construction methods, costing procedures for maintenance and repair, facility condition assessment guidelines, engineering drafting methods, and specification preparation. Ability to inspect City buildings and ancillary equipment for signs of deterioration and to prepare, monitor, and control project costs for preventive maintenance and repair. Experience with Asset Management Software (VFA) and SAP is an asset. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, provide advice, information, and recommendations, and maintain records, reports, correspondence, and other related materials.
