CPAWS Southern Alberta is seeking a Conservation Campaign Specialist to help shape the future of parks and public lands in Alberta. This role involves big‑picture projects, collaboration with diverse communities, and advocating for nature at every level. What You’ll Do Drive Conservation Campaigns (50%) – Lead large‑scale initiatives to protect Alberta’s public lands and waters. Work with government, partners, and interest groups to translate complex science and policy into actionable plans. Collaborate with Indigenous communities, grassroots groups, and partners to create lasting change. Engage & Inspire (30%) – Create compelling content with communications staff, speak to the public, and work with media to raise awareness. Help shape how Albertans connect with nature and engage in conservation advocacy. Support Our Mission (20%) – Contribute to fundraising through grant writing and donor engagement. Participate in team planning, project management, professional development, and advance diversity, equity, and reconciliation in all aspects of the work. Position Requirements Education – Post‑secondary degree in environmental science, ecology, geography, political science, communications, or a related field; or at least five (5) years of experience in relevant environmental and policy fields. Experience & Skills Strong understanding of conservation in Alberta and a motivation to learn about emerging issues and approaches. Ability to strategically engage all levels of government in CPAWS conservation work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex science and policy concepts clearly. Experience in project management and budget tracking. Skill in engagement with the public and stakeholders. Experience in campaign planning and execution (asset). Experience working with Indigenous communities (asset). Behavioural Competencies Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative, and make strategic decisions in consultation with team members. Ability to build relationships and find common ground with a diversity of interests and peoples. Highly organized, creative, and able to multitask and meet deadlines, often with urgent turnaround times. Commitment to implementing CPAWS Southern Alberta’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion values and principles of reconciliation. Position Details Start Date: January 2026 Full‑time Hours: 37.5 hours per week; some travel, evening, and weekend work may be required 1–2 times a month.
