Director, Medicine and Emergency

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: The Director, Medicine & Emergency is responsible for applying a strategic and broad business and knowledge base across multiple and diverse work environments within the Medicine, Stroke, Complex Care and Emergency programs. This includes achievement of operational and strategic objectives by providing guidance, direction and support, in keeping with STEGH's mission, vision, and values. The Director cultivates a work environment that exemplifies inter-professional practice, empowerment, transformation, quality, safety, and individual accountability. By developing and utilizing metrics, the Director ensures effective and efficient resource allocation, patient flow, achievement of QIP quality initiatives, and employee engagement goals. The Director utilizes patient experience feedback to drive continuous improvement and enhance care delivery. In addition, the Director provides oversight of Pay for Performance results and is accountable for STEGH’s patient repatriation process, ensuring effective coordination, timely transitions of care, and alignment with the hospital’s strategic goals. The successful incumbent will provide expertise, working collaboratively with program managers, physician leadership, peers, the executive team and key stakeholders, to ensure strategic goals and operational efficiencies are met. WHAT YOU MUST HAVE: Bachelor's degree in health administration, nursing, or business preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario preferred Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant clinical experience Experience working within a unionized and non-union environment with a solid understanding of labour relations Excellent business management/development, planning, organizing and negotiation skills Demonstrated experience with managing multiple competing priorities Experience in a LEAN environment with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in Healthcare Demonstrated values-based leadership Evidence of innovative leadership skills and a proven ability to foster a collaborative team approach, informed by evidence or leading practice, to guide decision making Strong business, financial, human resource management experience, including planning, implementing, analyzing and organizing Proven experience in program development and evaluation Demonstrated personal practice of cultivating emotional intelligence and evidence of learning agility Physical ability to carry out the essential duties of the position Ability to regularly attend work in accordance with the Attendance Support Program Acceptable performance record that is aligned with STEGH values and Code of Conduct HOURS: The successful candidate will work Monday - Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital.
