The ER/Admitting Clerk is responsible for interviewing and registering patients into the Cerner system in order to initiate and maintain an accurate database that will be used by Hospital departments to assist in the provision of quality care for all. In addition, this position will be responsible for all Emergency registrations and inpatient admissions, discharges and transfers. This department is often the first point of contact for patients and their families.

**HOURS**:
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:
***Completion of post-secondary Medical Office Assistant/Health Care Office Assistant course is required;
- Minimum of one (1) year Emergency Unit Clerk experience within the last three (3) years with preference being given to those with Emergency experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology;
- Working knowledge of general office procedures and methods, and computerized patient database systems to retrieve patient information;
- Demonstrated advance computer knowledge and skills with experience using Outlook, Electronic Patient Record, Cerner, LaunchPoint and Microsoft Office;
- Proven ability to provide excellent communication and customer service with the public and staff, in person and on the telephone;
- Ability to write legibly;
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with many interruptions and changing demand;
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program.
