Position Overview

Aecon-EBC General Partnership (AEGP) is a partnership consisting of Aecon and EBC to deliver the John Hart Dam Seismic Upgrade. BC Hydro awarded AEGP the $245 million dollar contract. The goal of the project is to provide safe and reliable power to the communities of Vancouver Island.

Reporting to the Project Manager, Aecon is hiring a Structural Engineer located in Campbell River, British Columbia. The crew is working a 5 days on/2 days off schedule.

What You’ll Do Here:
  1. Work closely with the field team to understand their needs and prepare concepts and designs for all required temporary structures.
  2. Collaborate with external engineers and the internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics.
  3. Complete temporary works designs to include concrete formwork, critical lift plans, worker access, etc.
  4. Create and finalize shop fabrication drawings including custom fabrication and design.
  5. Material take off and generation of bill of materials.
  6. Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepancies.
  7. Support all projects through the fabrication process or temporary and permanent steel structures.
  8. Design, plan, and supervise all structural work.
  9. Provide status and progress reports to customers, project teams, and management.
  10. Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, and other contractors.
  11. Ensure the project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality.
  12. All other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
  1. Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering.
  2. Professional engineer (P.Eng) required.
  3. Minimum 3 – 5 years of structural experience, preferably working on large infrastructure projects.
  4. Experience on Hydroelectric Dams would be considered an asset.
  5. Working knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  8. Organizational and time management skills.
  9. Ability to prioritize and multi-task / Service-oriented.
  10. Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
