Senior Inclusion Facilitator for Summer Camps

We invite you to join our team and make a difference in your community by working with the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team. This role offers valuable work experience, new skills, and opportunities to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

The Successful Candidate will:

  1. Lead participants with disabilities through engaging activities in a group setting.
  2. Modify program plans as needed to ensure inclusivity and safety.
  3. Maintain a safe environment by managing behavioural challenges and providing necessary support.
  4. Provide personal care services, including toileting, changing, and feeding, as required.
  5. Foster open communication with parents/guardians and collaborate with other staff members to resolve issues.
  6. Participate in regular discussions with colleagues to share ideas, concerns, and best practices.

Job Requirements:

  1. Degree or diploma in recreation, social work, education, Personal Support Worker, recreation therapy, or relevant field; 1-2 years of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with special needs.
  2. Certifications in behaviour management, mental health, and addictions are an asset.
  3. Ability to engage participants in various recreational activities, including adapted sports and games.
  4. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills to interact with diverse groups and individuals.
  5. A satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to job commencement.
  6. Current certifications in Standard First Aid & CPR-C, High Five, and Behaviour Management Systems are required within a specified timeframe.

The estimated salary for this position is between $24-$36 per hour, based on industry standards and location.
