Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes. You will be innovating and creating new prototypes designed with sustainable products with green architecture sensibility as your goals. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, continuous updating of a building information model, preparing a variety of output / drawings throughout the project, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables.Ideally you will be located in or willing to relocate to Yellowknife, Whitehorse, or Iqaluit. Relocation assistance is available. Candidates from other Canadian cities with local Stantec offices that are willing to travel to the north as required will be considered.Your Key ResponsibilitiesManaging complex tasks on multiple, large scope, highly complex projectsEffectively participates and helps to win work in interviews for potential projectsPlans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the clientKeeps the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understands the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respects the boundaries of the Principal in Charge’s responsibilitiesAssists in the negotiation and development of project agreementsDevelops and manages project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performanceMentors assistant Project Managers and motivates project teamsAssures that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documentedLeads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractorsManages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and scheduleAbility to conduct senior peer review of deliverables, including Building Condition Assessments and Tender DocumentsWorks with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnelTravel to small communities to conduct building condition assessments or review construction progressDirects client invoicing and effectively manages collectionsYour Capabilities And CredentialsExtensive project experience supporting our team’s ability to win work during proposal responsesCapable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal’s in Charge on multiple projectsAbility to prepare design and building condition assessment reportsExcellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, northern building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standardsRequires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite; prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUpProactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidanceEffectively manages multiple deadlines and prioritiesTeam player with the client, project team and contractorExcellent negotiator and communicatorEducation And ExperienceThe role requires a professional degree in Architecture and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.Registered or able to become registered within one year, as an Architect with a Canadian Architects AssociationPreferential credentials include: a LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, Lean project management or PMP, Contract Administration or Certified Specification Writer, and/or related Building Science or Technical.Typical office environment working with computers. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
