Bilingual Senior Claims Specialist - Personal LinesJoin Zurich Canada as a Bilingual Senior Claims Specialist in the Personal Lines Auto function, based in Montreal, Waterloo or Calgary.Reporting to the Claims Manager, Auto Personal Lines, you will handle single and multi‑party personal or commercial line claims of low to moderate exposure and complexity. This hybrid role involves documenting claims, determining liability, establishing coverage, negotiating settlements, managing reserves, and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and company policies.What you will doDocument claims data accurately, maintaining compliance for low to moderate exposure personal or commercial line claims.Determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts, applying applicable law and principles of negligence.Verify policy coverage and determine whether losses fall within coverage limits.Develop case strategy and evaluation to achieve timely resolution, escalating issues as needed.Establish and review reserves within authority limits, estimating claim values.Assess damage amounts based on applicable damages or statutory ranges.Negotiate settlement within authority limits using available tools and resources.Meet quality standards by following best practices.Provide proactive, customer‑centric communication and support marketing efforts.Manage vendor expenses within approved networks, with manager approval for exceptions.Ensure legal compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and internal controls.Refer claims to subrogation and fraud teams when appropriate.Contribute to profitable growth by providing risk insights, information, and trends.Protect confidentiality of claims information.Maintain professional knowledge through education, industry trends, networking, and professional societies.Job QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree and ≥3 years experience in claims or insurance.OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate degree and ≥3 years experience.OR Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and ≥3 years experience.OR High school diploma and ≥5 years experience.Bilingual in French and English.Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s).Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products.Microsoft Office proficiency.PreferredEffective verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking.Experience collaborating in a team environment and building cross‑functional relationships.Adept at explaining complex financial/actuarial concepts.Ability to determine scope and exposure for moderately complex claims.Understanding of reserving process for indemnity and expense exposure.Ability to develop and execute negotiation strategy.Ability to identify subtleties in customer/client and business partner interactions.Ability to present information needed to propose a claim resolution to stakeholders.Fluency in both spoken and written English is required to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec.About Zurich CanadaZurich Canada is part of the Zurich Insurance Group, a multi‑line insurer with approximately 55,000 employees worldwide.
