Bilingual Senior Claims Specialist - Personal Lines Zurich Canada is seeking a Bilingual Senior Claims Specialist to handle low‑to‑moderate personal and commercial line claims across Montreal, Waterloo, and Calgary. This hybrid role reports to the Claims Manager – Personal Lines. The Opportunity We are a values‑driven insurance provider committed to diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. We offer a supportive environment where your voice matters. What you will do Document claims files and update data in compliance with best practices. Determine liability by gathering and analyzing facts, applying law, and establishing negligence principles. Verify coverage and assess whether the loss falls within policy limits. Develop case strategy, evaluate claims, and manage resolution timelines. Establish and review reserves within authority limits. Calculate damages and negotiate settlements within authorized boundaries. Maintain quality standards and timely customer communication. Manage expenses through approved vendor networks and contractor scopes. Ensure legal compliance with state and federal regulations. Refer claims to sub‑rogation and fraud teams when appropriate. Provide risk insight and trends to business units. Safeguard confidential claims information. Pursue professional development and stay current in the industry. Required Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in claims or insurance OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 3+ years OR Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 3+ years experience OR High school diploma and 5+ years experience Essential Skills and Requirements: Bilingual in French & English. Must hold and maintain required adjuster license(s). Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products. Microsoft Office proficiency. Fluency in English for internal and external communications outside Quebec. Preferred Qualifications Effective verbal and written communication. Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills. Solid time‑management, prioritization, and multi‑tasking abilities. Team collaboration and cross‑functional relationship building. Adept at explaining complex financial or actuarial concepts. Understanding of reserving processes for moderate claims. Negotiation strategy development and execution.
