Join our Montreal office as a Regional Specialist – Compliance at BFL CANADA. The role focuses on overseeing compliance across the region, acting as the primary resource for regulatory and compliance matters. Responsibilities Address issues and questions raised by various stakeholders. Perform complex monthly client file reviews and present audit findings and addendum reports following a set format to the appropriate internal stakeholders. Coordinate audits with the National Compliance Auditor, validate results, and prepare the quarterly presentation of audit findings. Conduct general research and act as a resource for compliance‑related inquiries. Manage external audit relations with Insurance Councils and GAA. Coordinate filings related to unauthorized insurers. Support the VP Compliance and Legal in responding to Council audits. Contribute to special quarterly and year‑end reporting. Review regulations across Canada and ensure internal procedures are current. Review e‑sites (transactional and non‑transactional). Provide new hire and on‑demand compliance training and education requirements. Plan, design, and assign appropriate compliance courses as needed by staff and maintain education documentation. Keep staff updated through internal communication of regulations and best practices. Carry out periodic evaluation of the compliance programs and recommend changes and improvements. Develop new compliance and regulatory training material. Work with corporate services on other projects related to compliance and regulatory issues. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry. Licensed broker is an asset. Familiarity with provincial directives, code of conduct, and guidelines is an asset. Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English; required to interact in English with stakeholders outside Quebec. Availability to travel to other offices within the region as required. Ability to work independently and within a team on special and ongoing projects. Organized, structured, and able to manage time and priorities. Able to present in front of small to large groups of people. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
