Gibraltar produces an average of 130 million pounds of copper and 2.5 million pounds of molybdenum each year, with mineral reserves sufficient for more than 20 years of future operations.Description Position Title: Senior Metallurgist Employment Type: Full-Time Organization: Gibraltar Mine Location: Williams Lake, BC Reporting Relationship: Chief Metallurgist Salary Range: $121,000 to $151,300Role Overview Provide leadership, guidance and expertise in Metallurgical Control, Risk Assessment and Prevention, Troubleshooting, process improvement, metal balance, EIT training, and interdepartmental projects (environment, mine, geology, etc.).Core ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with Ministry of Mines and WCB Safety Standards.Identify, plan, and execute process improvement projects to improve mill throughput, metal recovery and concentrate grade.Act as a process resource for technical services engineering personnel.Assist in development and deployment of advanced analytics for mill processes.Provide technical expertise in implementation of advanced process control in coordination with mill operations and metallurgy.Implement advanced instrumentation projects in the mill.Lead preparation of month‑end metal balance reports.Represent technical services in mine-to-mill coordination activities.Provide metallurgical support to the mill department on selected projects.Serve as a role model and support the growth and professional development of EITs.Education & ExperienceA degree in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, Chemical or a related Engineering field.Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) registered with or eligible to transfer to EGBC.At least 10 years of experience in process engineering across operations, design, consulting, etc.Minimum 5 years of site experience with mineral processing operations.Skills & CompetenciesExperience leading and developing diverse project teams.Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and custom analytical equipment software.Advanced analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship‑management skills.Experience with identification, planning and execution of process improvement projects.Preferred: experience with advanced process modeling software (e.g., JKSimMet).Preferred: experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and dataPARC process data management systems.Preferred: valid Canadian Driver’s License.The CommunityWilliams Lake serves about 12,000 residents and nearly 25,000 people in surrounding communities.Recreational leagues for hockey, soccer, and softball.Extensive trail network for mountain biking, walking, hiking.Nearby lakes for fishing, paddling, and camping.Close to cross‑country and downhill skiing venues.Compensation Competitive salaries, vacation packages, health, dental, disability insurance, and an RRSP matching program.
