Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. With commercial production expected in mid-2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. At Foran, we are committed to sustainable development, environmental protection, and building strong communities. We believe in empowering our people, fostering a culture of growth, and creating opportunities for meaningful careers as we build the mines of the future.
As part of the Mill Operations Team, the Senior Metallurgist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of metallurgical operations and providing technical leadership. You will drive the optimization of processes, ensure quality control, and contribute to the safe and efficient extraction of valuable minerals at optimum concentrate grades. You will lead a team of metallurgists and collaborate with cross-functional departments to achieve operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the metallurgical team to support strong technical performance and continuous improvement.
- Optimize processing performance to improve recovery, throughput, and product quality.
- Oversee metallurgical test work, troubleshooting, and metallurgical accounting.
- Analyze operational data to identify risks and improvement opportunities.

- Assess and support implementation of new technologies and process enhancements.
- Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to long-term planning and development of metallurgical projects to enable future growth.

- 6+ years' experience in mineral processing with demonstrated technical and leadership growth.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng in Saskatchewan.
- Strong knowledge of processing operations including recovery, concentrate production, and process control.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Skilled in process optimization, data analysis, and problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with metallurgical modeling, data tools, and plant control systems.
- Effective communication, organization, and project management capabilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to innovation and team development.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $127,000 - $140,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
- Employer paid health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life and disability insurance
- RSP with company match
- Camp-based position with travel support
Foran is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce as we move into our next phase of growth. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-declare when submitting applications and resumes. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, you must be legally able to work in Canada.
The McIlvenna Bay Project site is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position and the remote work environment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, which includes drug and alcohol testing, as a condition of employment.
