The Position
Groome is seeking to fill the position of Data Analyst/Engineer to enhance the organization's data infrastructure and support business scalability through improved data integration, storage, retrieval processes, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Data Engineer/Analyst in dynamic, fast-paced environments. The candidate must be effective in working with all functional leadership within Groome, including the CFO and CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure and Management:
- Ensure data integrity and availability for analytics and reporting purposes.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems for data collection, transformation, and storage.
- Use data to discover tasks that can automate and optimize key processes.
- Implement ETL (extract, transform, load) processes with data from various sources and work with business stakeholders to meet their data consumption needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain reporting dashboards using visualization tools such as Tableau.
- Prepare and present regular reports to management, stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
- Develop and implement automated reporting solutions to streamline the reporting process.
- Integrate data from various systems (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, cloud-based platforms) to create unified reports.
- Use tools such as Python, SQL, and other relevant technologies to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Finance, Safety, and Operations, to understand their data needs and deliver tailored reports.
- Communicate findings and insights effectively to stakeholders, providing recommendations based on data analysis.
- Participate in meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools - ideally Tableau - for creating dashboards and reports.
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and managing large Excel-based models.
- Strong knowledge of database systems and data warehousing solutions is a plus.
- History of driving initiatives of continuous process improvements.
- Detail-oriented ensuring impeccable quality of work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
