Position Summary:
As a Technical Sales Leader, you will be responsible for driving sales of our complex and technical products/services while leading a team of sales representatives. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing sales strategies, building and maintaining customer relationships, and achieving revenue targets. This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires a strong combination of technical expertise, sales leadership, and customer-centric mindset
Key Qualification/Requirements: (Educational Requirements, equip requirements, software skills or programs)
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, engineering, or related discipline).
Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in a leadership role.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
Results-oriented mindset with a track record of achieving sales targets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Knowledge of CRM software and sales tools.
Experience in the metal fabricating or custom machining sectors with familiarity and experience with:
CNC press brakes
CNC laser or plasma cutting
Welding with TIG and/or MIG
Painting and assembly
Engineering for fabrications in steel, stainless and aluminum
Experience reading blueprints, calculating and estimating material requirements.
Strong understanding of different metals and structural steel grades and profiles used the steel industry.
Understanding of fabricating and machining tolerances.
Reading tape measures, understanding metric and imperial sizing.
Experience in sectors such as nuclear, aerospace, construction, defense, rail, machine building are an asset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:(Duties within the role that they will be evaluated on)
Develop and execute sales strategies: Create and implement effective sales strategies and plans to achieve revenue goals. Analyze market trends, identify customer needs, and align the sales approach accordingly.
Lead and motivate a sales team: Manage and inspire a team of sales representatives, providing guidance, coaching, and training to drive performance and achieve individual and team sales targets.
Provide technical expertise: Possess a deep understanding of our complex products/services, including their features, benefits, and competitive advantages. Effectively communicate technical concepts, address customer questions, and demonstrate the value of our solutions.
Build and maintain customer relationships: Establish strong relationships with key customers, understand their business requirements, and provide tailored solutions. Conduct presentations, demonstrations, and negotiations to address customer needs and overcome objections.
Optimize sales processes: Continuously evaluate and enhance the sales process by identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices. Track sales metrics, analyze performance data, and make data-driven decisions to increase sales effectiveness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with Engineering, Operations and Customer Service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience. Collaborate on product enhancements, provide feedback on customer requirements, and contribute to overall business growth.
Stay updated with industry trends: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements in the industry. Utilize this knowledge to maintain a competitive edge and drive sales strategies.
