Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Senior Underwriter, Marine to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity ensuring a high level of service to customers.

Reporting to the Head of Marine Underwriting, you will be responsible for underwriting and analyzing new and renewal business, administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, and developing relationships with distributors in support of business retention and acquisition.

Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating rules.Develop and maintain relationships with brokers to support business retention and acquisition, and address customer insurance needs.Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.Qualify accounts to align with the organization's risk appetite and business opportunities.Cross-sell other lines of business to increase account product density.Engage in the target account process, managing a list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to the effective date.Update systems with broker/client visit details and account status promptly.Serve as the key Zurich contact for assigned target accounts.Measure exposures, analyze risks, quote, and set coverage terms.Service accounts, handle declinations and cancellations.Provide technical advice to help customers solve problems or improve their business.ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.ORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.ORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

AND

  1. Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred

  1. Bachelor's Degree.
  2. Minimum 4 years marine underwriting experience.
  3. Fluency, both spoken and written, in French.
  4. Fluency in both spoken and written English is required to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec.
