Division: Global National Work Status: Part‑Time Location: Burnaby, BC (Onsite) About the Role: Global National is looking for a permanent, Part‑Time Producer to join our award‑winning flagship news program. Reporting to the Executive Producer and Supervising Producer, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting correspondents, identifying story angles and compelling voices, pitching story ideas, shaping packages that stand apart from the competition, and writing and producing news content. The successful candidate is passionate about news, an exceptional writer, trusted producer, and ideas‑generator who understands how to deliver smart, impactful, and innovative stories. They regularly go above and beyond and are skilled at distilling complex information and ideas into sharp, compelling television. This position will require working regular weekends and may involve a variety of shifts including days and holidays as needed. This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement. You will contribute by: The following is an outline but not all of the primary functions and responsibilities for this role: Producing, writing, and vetting compelling, accurate news copy, including story leads, bumpers, headlines and promos for Global National. Taking shows to air in the control room. Writing and producing reporter packages. Developing creative ways to deliver news content. Conducting news interviews. Developing news content through a diverse and inclusive lens. Advocating and driving original storytelling. Monitoring all news sources, including feeds, wires, and social media. Maintaining Global News’ high production standards. Other duties as required. Skills and experience you will bring: Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience in television broadcasting. Five to seven years network news experience. Five to seven years control room experience. Experience writing online stories. Exceptional news writing skills. Working knowledge of all newsroom production software. Working knowledge of desktop editing. Proven strong editorial news judgment, with solid research abilities. Experience in diverse and inclusive storytelling. Familiarity with online content production, writing for the web, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. Proven ability to multitask, working quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines. Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows, as well as learn new skills. a multi‑faceted digital news operation. Familiarity with the current and future state of online news reporting.
