Position O1E Power Engineer – 2nd Class Assistant Power Engineer Regular/full-time – Public Service Delivery, Operations, District 1, Asset Management – Winnipeg, MB Salary: O1E $83,437.00 – $98,150.00 per year. Duties Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of a 1st Class High Pressure Heating Plant and all of its auxiliaries. The incumbent will supervise the operation of heating/cooling, water supply and electrical generating equipment, respond to fire alarms, record energy consumption, steam and water pressures, perform chemical testing and addition, test emergency stand‑by generators, fire booster pumps, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This position may also provide guidance and ensure quality of work for employees in less senior technical positions. Qualifications – Essential Experience working in a 1st or 2nd Class High Pressure Steam Plant as a Shift Engineer. Experience with Fire and life safety systems. Experience with High Pressure boilers, large chillers, cooling towers, hot water and chilled water systems. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative. Experience with Building Management Systems. Experience performing water treatment for boilers, hot water and chilled water systems. Understanding and application of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation, and Power Engineers Act and Regulation of Manitoba. Strong written communication skills. Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts. Conditions of Employment Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must hold a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certification registered in Manitoba. Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence. Must be physically capable of performing duties, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment. Must have satisfactory Criminal Records Check, security check (if applicable) and Child Abuse Registry Check. Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
