You'll also help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt terminal which includes the production of the quality asphalt products.Here is a preview of what you'll be doing:Safely start up, operate, and shut down the boilerRoutine inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operationPerform boiler feedwater and cooling water testsCommunicate daily engineering activities with Chief Engineer and update all engineering logs dailyMaintain accurate, up to date maintenance records and work ordersBecome proficient in all aspects of terminal operationHandle multiple responsibilities including customer service, monitor efficiencies, use the truck scale, write safe work permits, and assist asphalt ordersLoad/unload trucks/railcars with hot asphalt productOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot all systems within the terminalGeneral maintenance, cleaning, housekeeping, and snow removal What we need from youMinimum 5th class power engineering required (4th class an asset, 4th class certificate required in Winnipeg)Previous transload or experience with an asphalt terminal, a strong assetStrong knowledge of Safe Work Permits and LOTOMechanically inclinedA strong commitment to maintaining safe work practices at all timesStrong ability to handle challenges and problem-solveWillingness to develop your knowledge in emulsion production, quality control and a technical understanding of different productsAdditional skills we'll strongly consider to be an asset:Understanding of P&ID's and basic flowsProcess experience in a plant settingExperience in the petrochemical field or other industrial environmentRailroad experience RequirementsAbility to:work at heightsswing a 10-lb sledgehammerwalk extensively on uneven terrainlift 50 lbs.Work and stand on uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of timeWork outside for extended periods of time, in all weather conditionsWork while wearing a SCBA respirator (this is a clean-shaven work site)Candidates are required to clear a criminal background check, drug screen, and pre-employment medical examinationAttend and pass all job-required tests (WHMIS, TDG, H2S, Fall Arrest, First Aid, and all other site-specific training, as required) #J-18808-Ljbffr
