A successful candidate will have experience in diverse mental health issues and be able to support the recovery process for those experiencing ongoing Mental Health concerns at a moderate to severe level, affecting ability to function. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of mental health issues and treatment in the assigned client population(s); working knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness in the assigned client population(s); working knowledge of community, social and health resources and need to be able to deal effectively with conflict situations, and use non‑violent crisis intervention techniques and to establish and maintain rapport with clients with a culturally diverse population. What will you work on? The Community Mental Health Worker supports Access Central, which is a new regional virtual service delivered by a centralized interdisciplinary team based in Kelowna. These positions will support a centralized, regional, coordinated access to substance use bed‑based services, including treatment, transition and stabilization, and supportive recovery. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. Provides support to clients in the development and maintenance of the skills required to live successfully in their own homes. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation. Scheduling Information Shift types are days and shift times are from 09:00 to 17:00 hours. How will you create an impact?
