The Role A unique DevOps engineering opportunity to join a lean, impactful team and actively develop tools and workflows to significantly increase build and release efficiencies. This role provides hands‑on exposure and a chance to interact with various groups within Kobo’s large research and development team. You’ll develop the foundational cloud infrastructure and collaborate closely with a skilled team in a fast‑paced agile environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain cloud deployment pipelines and workflows. Contribute to the development and maintenance of continuous integration/deployment pipelines. Develop scripts to automate operational tasks and system integrations. Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Chef. Write and maintain monitoring scripts and tools to ensure system health and performance. Collaborate with development teams to understand requirements and implement efficient deployment strategies. Required Skills Currently enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical program. Foundational understanding of cloud‑based technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience with GitOps/IaC practices. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Terraform, Ansible, Bash, Python, or comparable. Demonstrated experience with REST APIs and system integrations. Strong initiative in communicating with co‑workers, asking questions, and continuously learning. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proactive and creative problem‑solver with the ability to multitask and manage tight deadlines. Strong troubleshooting skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience with continuous integration/deployment tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, Chef). Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with various web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache). Experience with different operating systems (Windows, Linux). Exposure to working in an Agile software development environment.
