Join to apply for the Manager, Financial Systems (Contract) role at Pet Valu Hybrid: Markham, Ontario The Financial Systems Manager supports the financial systems used by the Finance and Accounting department. Responsibilities include providing training, assisting with the monthly and year‑end close process, administering system user access, maintaining governance and controls, and designing queries and reports. The role also leads and supports IT projects such as system implementations and upgrades. Reporting To Solid line: Director, Operational Accounting Dotted line: Director, Financial Reporting; Director, Information Technology Day to Day Support Support and manage Microsoft Dynamics NAV (ERP), Jet Reports, and Workday Adaptive for finance. Primary contact for NAV, handling general ledger and chart of accounts maintenance, data setup, system configurations, and troubleshooting. Document defects and coordinate with IT for resolution. Participate in weekly IT development calls. Key point of contact for Finance in all systems‑related projects. Design reports in Jet Reports or Adaptive and develop access queries. Support external auditors with reports, data, and documentation. Handle system security (user permissions) and perform regular reviews. Ensure data integrity, internal controls, and audit trails. Support accounting and financial interfaces, including operational and banking interfaces. Collaborate with Finance groups to identify process improvement opportunities. Build strong relationships with internal finance customers and IT. Conduct meetings and presentations to communicate findings and plans. Project Work Manage and support ad‑hoc projects including system implementations, modifications, IT compliance, and archiving. Perform the Finance Business Analyst role for NAV projects: evaluate processes, gather requirements, identify improvements, support solution design, draft User Acceptance tests, and lead testing. Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, and consultants on customizations and system upgrades. Experience, Education, Certifications Preferred: an accounting designation or business degree. Diploma or degree in Information Systems. 5 to 7 years of experience supporting mid‑sized finance and accounting systems. Direct experience in an analytical financial role. Required Skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV or another ERP system. Strong working knowledge of MS Access and advanced Excel skills. Advanced knowledge of Jet Reports or Adaptive Financial Planning preferred. Familiarity with JIRA/Zypher (or equivalent) development/testing tracking system desirable. Proficiency in data/process flow diagrams, including swim lanes. Proficient in standard end‑user computing tools such as Google Applications, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Good general knowledge of accounting activities: general ledger, month‑end close, financial statement preparation, AP, AR, cash management, and asset management. Ability to evaluate processes and document business requirements clearly for IT developers. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to work well under pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
