Recruitment Partner | Resume Reviewer | Spin Enthusiast At Minga, we’re creating the Student Behaviour Platform schools can’t imagine running without. We’re on a mission to make school life run smoother and have fun while we’re at it. We’re a tight-knit team of curious, creative, and low-ego humans who genuinely enjoy working together. We care deeply about the work we do and the people we do it with, and that shows up in how we lead, collaborate, and celebrate. Our culture is built on trust, ownership, and continuous learning. Whether you’re working from our Kelowna HQ or remotely, you’ll have the autonomy to do your best work, the support to grow, and the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of educators and students. The Role We’re not just hiring for a position, we’re adding a teammate. Someone who wants to help build what’s next, take real ownership, and grow with us along the way. As a Lead UX Designer you’ll focus on the user experience using your design expertise to deliver compelling products that result in exceptional outcomes for Minga teachers and students. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will own and drive projects independently, with ample opportunity to collaborate with a growing design and product development team. In this role, you’ll shape both our product and the evolution of our UX Design practice, setting the bar for standards, process, and impact. What You’ll Do Design Mentor You coach and guide other designers through regular critique, 1:1 mentorship, and paired work. You raise the bar for user-centred thinking, process, and craft, helping others grow in their practice and contribute more effectively to the team. User-Centred Strategist You represent the user while driving alignment across teams. Grounded in research and user insight, you help shape product direction through clear communication, cross-functional collaboration, and thoughtful negotiation of trade-offs. You ensure that design is not only user-centred, but also well-integrated into broader product and business goals. Design Thinker You use design thinking to move through customer interviews, problem statements, solution hypotheses, rapid prototypes and high fidelity designs efficiently and without sacrificing quality. Facilitator You facilitate design workshops for cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with product leadership and other UX designers to continuously improve Minga’s design practice. Researcher Influence UX Design direction based on quantitative and qualitative user research techniques that inform everything from product innovation, to usability optimizations. Design Systems Builder Contribute to a scalable design system that drives platform consistency across all user experiences. Design Systems Owner You lead the evolution of our design system, working closely with engineering and product peers to ensure high-quality, consistent experiences at scale What We Require 5+ years of experience in a UX Design role A portfolio that clearly shows your ability to lead design strategy, elevate product quality, and mentor others Strong communication and facilitation skills in design contexts (critiques, discussions, and presentations) Experience building and scaling design systems in SaaS or multi-user environments Experience in qualitative and quantitative user research techniques and the ability to leverage data to make and measure decisions. Experience working with diverse stakeholders and teams including Product Management, Support, Marketing, and Engineering Excellent verbal and written communication skills to host design critiques and present your work to partners and stakeholders. A desire to share work early and often, learning from mistakes with humility while seeking out expertise to continuously improve your practice. Bonus If You Have Experience designing for the needs of K-12 SaaS platforms, including workflows involving multiple users, roles, and permissions Previous contributions to establishing and evolving a design system Experience in planning and setting up user research and synthesizing research insights Who You Are You’re naturally curious, self-directed, and energized by building You care just as much about how things get done as what gets done You thrive in collaborative environments and aren’t afraid to take the lead You value transparency, feedback, and a shared commitment to doing great work You’re passionate about making a difference and having fun while doing it How We Work (and What We Value) 🌱 Growth Always learning, always evolving 🧭 Integrity Doing what’s right, even when it’s hard 🔥 Passion Bringing energy and heart to everything we do What You Can Expect at Minga Flexible, Hybrid-First Work: Work in a way that works for you.
