Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We are seeking a dynamic CEO to conduct the day-to-day business of AFREA with the authorization to direct the implementation of all AFREA programs and services under the authority of the Board. The ideal candidate will be a leader with excellent communication, leadership, strategic planning, and people skills.

As CEO you will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible to:

  1. Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of AFREA, including operations, finance, HSE, HR, and governance policy;
  2. Communicate with member and non-member REAs, government and industry players;
  3. Act as a resource for the Board of Directors;
  4. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve AFREA goals and objectives;
  5. Monitor industry trends to identify potential risks and opportunities for member REAs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  1. Experience and knowledge of the electrical industry (distribution, transmission & generation) including trends, codes, regulations and best practices;
  2. Understanding of the relevant government initiatives, rural electrical distribution systems and cooperatives;
  3. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work well with others;
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills;

This position is in Edmonton, Alberta.

Job Type: Full-time
