Overview Medical Radiation Technologist I – Alberta Health Services. Perform diagnostic imaging examinations, maintain quality, support equipment, and ensure patient care. Responsibilities Interpret physician requisitions and perform a variety of technical radiological imaging examinations. Prepare, position, and educate patients for examination, including administration of imaging agents as authorized. Document all necessary data in patient charts, ensuring correct patient identification and examination accuracy. Maintain quality control in all procedures; perform daily Quality Assurance activities such as exam logs, phantom QA, and image corrections. Operate, maintain, and report malfunctions of imaging equipment and report findings to the Radiologist when necessary. Enforce safety measures, infection control, and radiation protection standards in the imaging area. Assist with the care and maintenance of equipment and general cleanliness of the practice area. Qualifications Required: Completion of a diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program; active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT); Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred: Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to cooperate, work independently, and promote teamwork; initiative and judgment; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy with patients, staff, and physicians; work under pressure and in emergencies; effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety practices; Epic (Connect Care) working knowledge and access.
