About the Role Reporting to the Director, Innovation and Research Institute, the Research Design and Policy Development Manager plays a key role in strengthening Nunavut Arctic College’s (NAC) leadership in applied research. The Manager builds institutional research capacity by developing policies and frameworks that promote responsible, community-engaged, and Inuit-guided research. Working closely with faculty, staff, and external partners, the Manager leads research needs assessments, establishes ethical review processes, develops institutional research policies, and supports research training and professional development for faculty, staff, and students. Key Responsibilities Coordinating research across health, natural, and social sciences, including Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Advancing NAC’s research profile through partnership development, knowledge sharing, and participation in territorial, national, and international networks Promoting the College’s achievements and building relationships with Inuit organizations and academic institutions Ensuring that NAC’s research initiatives are ethical, community-driven, and reflective of Inuit Societal Values Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job are usually obtained through the completion of an undergraduate degree in a field of study related to the position with three (3) years of progressive research experience. Experience supervising or overseeing project staff, teams, or consultants as well as experience performing research in Nunavut are assets. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. Additional Information As this is a term position for non-Inuit candidates, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate; however this is subject to managerial approval. An eligibility list may be created to fill future vacancies. The Government of Nunavut is committed to creating a representative workforce; therefore, priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit who self-identify as being enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement in accordance with the Priority Hiring Policy. Government of Nunavut employees serving a probationary period must obtain and provide written authorization from the deputy head of their employing department. An assessment of the criminal record will be measured against the scope and duties of the position.
