Job Summary The Sales Specialist is responsible for driving sales in higher‑education markets for designated disciplines by collaborating with field sales representatives and regional managers. You will develop and implement sales strategies, conduct sales presentations for large opportunities, train and support customers post‑sale, and provide valuable feedback to marketing and editorial teams. Travel is expected during primary selling seasons and to conferences, training, and sales events. Candidates should reside within the Vancouver, Canada area. Responsibilities Drive growth for Macmillan Learning products by selecting top opportunities, delivering sales presentations, campus visits, and attending conferences and regional impact events. Develop relationships with key decision‑makers at VIP accounts. Coordinate sales targeting and initiatives with Regional Managers and Sales Representatives. Develop regional sales strategies and sales tools. Launch first editions and promote adoption of LMS integration and Inclusive Access models. Update and maintain sales data and activity in the CRM system. Technology Training Train new VIP adopters on technology implementation. Plan and execute ongoing product trainings with sales representatives and support their customer training efforts. Feedback & Market Intelligence Submit regular and timely trip reports. Maintain and develop competitive knowledge and market awareness. Contribute to product development across HSS/STEM discipline teams. Customer Support – VIP Adoptions Provide ongoing support for VIP adoptions utilizing our technology, including course customization, copying, LMS integration, and troubleshooting. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Valid driver’s license. Minimum 5 years of outside sales experience. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with sales management, representatives, editors, and marketing managers. Technical proficiency. Strong presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Higher education sales and/or marketing experience in correlated HSS or STEM disciplines. Proactive staying ahead of industry trends by gathering field insights, engaging in professional learning, and contributing to cross‑functional meetings. Willingness to pilot new ideas or technologies with uncertain outcomes for breakthrough impact. Eager adopter of emerging sales technologies, analytics platforms, or CRM tools. Compensation Salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 CAD. Exemption Status Exempt. Physical Requirements Requires periods of close concentration; able to walk up to 5 km a day on campus; able to sit/stand for long periods; can concentrate in noisy/busy environments; must travel, including driving 2–5 hours as required. A valid driver’s license is required with daily travel within territory and frequent overnight trips. Attendance at national sales meetings and regional meetings is required (5 or more days). During fall and spring selling seasons more than 40 hours per week may be necessary, including full day on campus followed by paperwork and expense reports. Benefits Company car allowance.
