General Maintenance Labourer

The General Labourer Maintenance Tech will be a highly self-motivated, customer-centric, safety conscience team player with good attendance, whom will perform battery changing, preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, structures, grounds, and assists Skilled Maintenance Personnel. This technician will have the opportunity train as an apprentice to the maintenance team and could potentially transition into maintenance if the proper skillsets are learned/achieved.Shift:Monday - Friday Day ShiftWhat you will do:Operates battery changing station, conducting the removal and replacement of lift batteries while adhering to all OSHA & Wayfair safety policies and proceduresDisposes of Hazardous Materials in accordance with established OSHA proceduresConducts daily/weekly Preventative Maintenance and completes daily log sheetPerforms pre-operation checklist and verifies all safety devices are functional at all timesUtilizes and maintains the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)Charge, clean, and inspect batteries for production equipmentChecks and maintains water levels in batteriesMonitors battery charger status, battery cable insulation and connectors, reporting necessary repairs to maintenanceMaintains a clean and safe work areaOperates floor sweeper / scrubber to maintain facility floorPaints, plasters, and performs general building maintenance functions including plumbing and carpentry to maintain facilityAssist Maintenance Technicians with installation, repair and preventive maintenance on equipment and facilitiesPerforms all job-related duties as directed by Manager/SupervisorCompletes work assignments, work orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documentsDevelop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organizationComplies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrityWhat you will need:High School Diploma or EquivalentAbility to work all days and shifts, overtime, and holidays. (We are a 24/7 operation)Basic reading, writing, computer, and oral language skillsGeneral mechanical maintenance abilities and aptitude (carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building maintenance)Good Communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse group of associatesAbility to safely operate warehouse equipment (Order Picker, Pallet Runners, Standup, Reach, Aerial Lift etc.)Ability to use a variety of hand tools and multi metersPrevious Battery charger/changer experience preferred but not requiredPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:Must be able to lift up to 75lbs regularlyUse aerial lift equipment to a height in excess of 30ftRegular bending, lifting, stretching, crawling, & reaching below the waist and above the headEngage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wristsAbility to use hand and power tools such as saws, drills, impacts, etc.Continual standing and/or walking with great frequency (facility over a quarter mile)Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitationAbility to work in construction /distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated and/or not air-conditionedMust be able to work in hot and cold environments to include inclement weatherAble to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, etc.)Why Wayfair?While we've been busy growing our team, the safety of employees remains our #1 priority and is at the heart of every decision made.
