Position Summary :
The HSE Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring the successful implementation and maintenance of CAM's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System. This position is responsible for driving HSE excellence across project sites by conducting audits, training, risk assessments, and incident investigations. The HSE Advisor works closely with clients, subcontractors, and site teams to align safety practices and processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and CAM's safety standards. This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for cultivating a culture of safety.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Oversee the implementation of CAM's HSE Management System.
- Conduct project start-up and readiness reviews.
- Develop and execute HSE plans, including HASAPs and SPAs.
- Deliver training and educational sessions for site teams.
- Perform audits, inspections, and gap analyses to ensure program compliance.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of HSE program implementation.
- Manage JSIMS, incident reporting, investigations, and recordkeeping.
- Develop recognition and rewards programs to promote HSE excellence.
- Conduct risk assessments and manage claims effectively.
- Provide support for turnaround operations and first aid / emergency services.
- Oversee PPE procurement and subcontractor management.
- Implement and manage site security programs as needed.
Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience in plant / refinery construction, maintenance, or turnaround operations.
- HSE team lead or management experience is an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with union craft employees.
- Knowledge of WSIB injury claims management.
- Familiarity with industry HSE associations, affiliations, and resources.
- Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
- Professional designation (e.g., P.E., ASP, CSP) or qualifications from a national / international certifying agency (preferred).
