Regulatory Compliance Requirements Required to access and work in DND facilities and therefore must comply with Federal facility health regulations. Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR. Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as personnel will have direct access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program. Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level. Position Summary Thales is hiring a Ship Maintenance Lead to oversee the planning, execution and closeout activities for each vessel work period. Responsible for the integrated schedule and worksite during structured work periods, the Ship Maintenance Lead manages and coordinates internal and external (Customer, contractors (TSN)s, strategic partners, etc.) teams through all phases of the work period. The Ship Maintenance Lead directs and monitors all activities to completion while preparing and delivering regular work period reports relating to schedule progress, cost and risks. The Ship Maintenance Lead is responsible to ensure all work executed in the work period follows all worksite safety plans and procedures. The Ship Maintenance Lead reports to the Ship Maintenance Team Lead. Key Areas of Responsibility Lead the work period project planning activities of preparing, organizing and validating to ensure successful transition from project planning through to project launch. Execute, monitor and control each project until its completion. Acts as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders with respect to the maintenance execution function on the ships. Supervises the Thales personnel and subcontractors to achieve agreed outcomes within their delegated authorities and responsibilities. Coordinates and conducts all required activities prior to the commencement of maintenance execution, including subcontractor kick‑off meetings, authorization of purchase requisitions and issuance of purchase orders. Provides appropriate direction, coaching, support and delegation to individual project team members to enable them to achieve the work objectives. Oversees all maintenance execution activities for designated maintenance periods to ensure material readiness objectives for the platforms are being achieved. Prepares regular reports as required by the contract. Provides whole‑ship project management support to the Esquimalt Waterfront Manager as required to meet the availability standard and to meet the Full Mission Capability under the ISS contract. Reports progress – daily, weekly and at the conclusion of maintenance activities. Manages the conduct of maintenance and/or ad‑hoc tasking during designated maintenance work periods within agreed scheduled time frames. Controls investigation and rectification of operational defects (OPDEF) within agreed scheduled time frames. Reports status of Operational Defects (OPDEF) that fall within his/her projects. Assesses warranty implications and financial claims. Reviews maintenance systems and support documentation for applicability. Verifies and certifies financial claims for payments made to subcontractors. Manages and coordinates the recording of planned and corrective maintenance data in THALES data management systems from initiation to close‑out. Manages and coordinates the collation and acceptance of objective quality evidence for planned and corrective maintenance for performance, data management and invoicing. Ensures that issues are resolved at the lowest level and are escalated as required for any issues relating to the maintenance period. Particularly shortcomings in operational availability and/or safety must be alerted as they happen or are known. Manages and coordinates technical assistance and/or advice to Ship’s Staff and other RCN personnel. Attends regular departmental meetings with manager to build and consolidate continuous feedback and improvement mechanisms. Provides positive and relative non‑KPI contribution and application towards continuous improvement. Updates procedures and templates as required. Ensures maintenance activities are conducted IAW AJISS procedures. Prepares and delivers regular lesson‑learnt/internal wash‑up meetings to assigned project team members. Undertakes other duties as assigned from time to time. People Management Provides oversight and direction to a team of employees within the Service Delivery department in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. Coaches, mentors, and develops staff, including assisting with new employee onboarding. Leads employees to meet the organization’s expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement and goal accomplishment. Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for cohesiveness, support and effective working together to enable each employee and the department to succeed. Health, Safety & Environment Complies with and ensures compliance of others to all relevant HS&E legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimizing accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment. Promotes Thales’ Health, Safety and Environmental programs by demonstrating HS&E leadership in a professional and supportive manner. Interacts and works with management/employees to promote teamwork by effectively communicating with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications and one‑on‑one communication. Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated experience working within or leading in‑service support projects is advantageous. At least 5 years of experience in the supervision of teams and/or projects undertaking maintenance activities. Prior experience overseeing all maintenance execution activities for designated maintenance periods to ensure material readiness objectives for the platforms are being achieved. Experience ensuring compliance of others to all relevant HS&E legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimizing accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment. Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential. Experience interfacing between various internal/external stakeholders within a project. Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience managing projects and teams, preferably in the ship/dockyard and naval environments. Possess a minimum 3‑year technical program diploma offered by a recognized technical institute or certified as a technologist by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a relevant field or certified to the QL‑6B level of military technical training. Experience working within a defence environment with active defence force personnel is desirable. Experience within procurement, project management or warehouse environments desirable. Experience with the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS), or comparable document management system is advantageous. Accreditation as a Certified Practicing Project Manager or equivalent is advantageous. Special Position Requirements Schedule: 40 hours per week. Physical Environment: Office and Naval ships alongside in harbor, or at sea; must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards. Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel required, which will include access to government facilities and assets, including naval vessels. The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between: Total Target Cash (TTC) 76,208.54 – 128,924.64 CAD annual.
