Position: Casual Team Leader Medical Device Reprocessing Department: Medical Device Reprocessing Sites: Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital, Queensway Health Centre Hours / Shift Pattern: Days, Afternoons, Nights (rotation) Salary Band: $72,900 – $104,800 per annum Job Description In accordance with infection prevention, decontamination, sterilisation, and industry standards, the position spends most of its time overseeing reprocessing operations, supervising personnel, coordinating daily activities, and performing related administrative duties. The leader serves as a resource person for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Evaluating performance, determining related training and orientation requirements, monitoring compliance with quality assurance testing, and providing input to the manager (or designate) as required. Overseeing the set‑up and maintenance of the OR case cart system by verifying loaner medical device sets/equipment as complete, received, processed, and returned, and providing related feedback to management. Monitors and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies by recommending changes to inventory levels, reordering, and adjusting JIT levels as necessary; maintains catalogues and places orders with the buyer/purchaser. Monitors expenditures and makes budget recommendations to management. Oversees and updates standards and procedures, revises and implements policies and procedures, including those of the case cart system, ensuring a safe work environment and adherence to safety practices. Oversees an equipment quality control program within the department. Monitors equipment performance and maintains performance records. Reports and addresses all quality elements of MDR practice and service delivery. Performs sterile supply duties, such as cleaning, decontamination, assembling, wrapping, sterilising, and distribution of supplies to the OR and other areas. Serves as resource person for user departments and reviews quotas for ward supplies. Performs other duties as required. Strives to deliver the highest quality MDRD service to ensure safe patient care. Key Qualifications Qualification from a recognized College is required. Preference for candidates who have attained Certification from CSA or IAHCSMM. Minimum 3 years recent experience in Medical Device Reprocessing, with a proven track record of competency. Previous leadership experience is an asset. Preference for candidates with experience at a tertiary hospital. Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS Program required. Basic Windows‑based application skills required. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to engage employees in learning and development. Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology required. Mathematical aptitude. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to operate related equipment. Demonstrated ability to lead a high‑functioning team. Experience building a positive work environment and team‑based culture.
