**What you’ll do**:
As a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT), you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care. You will be responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, inspection, and maintenance of medical devices and equipment. Your work will directly support healthcare operations by ensuring all instruments are ready for use, adhering to strict infection control protocols, and contributing to a safe healthcare environment.- Clean decontaminate, and prepare medical instruments and equipment for processing.
- Ensure the sterilization of medical instruments through a variety of techniques, such as washing/disinfecting, steam sterilizing, to make them safe for patient use.
- Disinfecting instruments with appropriate techniques to eliminate harmful microorganisms.
- Perform quality control checks to confirm that sterilization and disinfection processes are effective, and instruments are safe for use.
- Maintain and troubleshoot MDR equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Ensures that biomedical checks are performed on MDR equipment following the schedule set out by GraceMed policy.
- Monitor and manage inventory of medical instruments and supplies.
- Maintaining very accurate records of the reprocessing activities, including but not limited to sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality control checks.
- Support Recovery Room Nurses with patient discharge transfers post-surgery when needed.
**What you will bring along**:
- Successful completion of one of the following:
- Community College Sterilization and Reprocessing Certificate course, or
- Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario Certificate, or
- Online course for Medical Device Reprocessing in Community Healthcare Settings + training on the MDR equipment from the manufacturer/vendor
- Minimum of one year of experience working as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician.
- Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Personnel Certification (CMDRT) will be considered an asset.
- Proficient in the correct operation of all reprocessing equipment.
- Knowledge of instruments and instrument technology.
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning, decontamination, sterilization procedures and methods.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines.
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task.
