Position Summary

To proactively support, champion and execute Alliston Group’s Estimating and Purchasing tasks by creating and maintaining vendor relationships and actively seeking opportunities for cost savings while maintaining the Alliston level of standard specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ongoing job set-up, maintenance and reviews in Homefront.
  2. Implement Homefront software and train other departments in its use.
  3. Complete and review tenders.
  4. Daily review of cost estimates from vendors.
  5. Create and maintain accurate material takeoffs.
  6. Monitor material usage in the field for overages and shortages.
  7. Create model and option estimates and assemblies.
  8. Complete and calculate custom price requests for Sales in a timely manner.
  9. Consistently and proactively maintain issuance of POs and VPOs.
  10. Procurement of vendors and suppliers.
  11. Assist with contract negotiations, scope of work communication to contractors, drawing reviews, specification revisions and selections reviews.
  12. Review actuals vs. budgets and establish cost-to-completes or draw stage budgets.
  13. Assist with coordinating holdbacks with the Office Manager and vendors.
  14. Assist with vendors’ and contractors’ queries via phone, email and in person.
  15. Analyze budgets, variances, trends and post-occupancy incurred costs.
  16. Liase between Estimating team members, vendors/contractors, Construction, Design, Accounting and Sales Team members to ensure accuracy of information for production.
Experience and Requirements
  1. Must have Multi-Family & Custom Home experience.
  2. Ability to read and understand all plans, blueprints, grade slips, specifications, and associated construction documents.
  3. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  4. Strong organizational skills.
  5. Good time management.
  6. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  7. Proven ability to handle large volumes of data.
  8. Sincere desire to provide “top of class” support and customer service.
  9. Ability to work competently in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Civil Engineering Technology, Construction or Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent experience.
  11. 5+ years’ experience in construction purchasing/estimating, preferably with a home builder.
  12. Homefront experience is considered an asset.
