We are looking for Student Support Counsellors to support the Amethyst Demonstration School in London. Responsibilities Provide supervision, guidance and instruction in social and life skills for students with severe learning disabilities in a lodging program setting. Plan, organize and implement customized individual and group programs to meet the personal, emotional and developmental needs of students using a multidisciplinary approach, including physical activities, recreational programs, safety and behavioral plans, and social skills lesson plans. Supervise, guide and instruct students in the lodging program, acting as a role model and modeling appropriate interpersonal relationships, cooperation, and social skills. Provide sound physical care and maintain a safe and secure environment for students in the lodging program. Conduct structured study time for all students and assist them using a variety of learning tools. Offer students opportunities to participate in extra‑curricular activities that allow for the transference and practice of acquired skills. Organize, schedule recreational, leisure and educational programs and activities that meet the varied interests and physical needs of students. Maintain meaningful and appropriate communication with students, parents and other professionals, preparing reports on student progress and liaising with parents to update them, and participating in case conferences and reviews with other professionals. Mandatory Requirements College certification from a recognized educational facility and/or equivalent training, education and working experience in a child‑related field. Current First Aid, CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention Training and/or Behaviour Management Training or equivalent. Skills and Qualifications Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective social, recreational and leisure programs geared to meet the needs of students with severe learning disabilities. Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and practices that address student care and safety. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, staff and other professionals. Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness and ability to work shifts.
