We’re seeking a Deputy Vice President (DVP) Chalk River Site Operations to join our Stewardship & Renewal Group (SRG) & Environmental Remediation Management (ERM) to provide direct oversight of Chalk River Laboratory (CRL) site operations. Can you see yourself providing direct oversight of the delivery of the Infrastructure Development Group (IDG) for services, projects, and activities and ensuring safety measures are adhered to and followed? strong>
  • Providing strategic direction and leadership for the framework, programs, and business processes to the IDG Team and the overall safe operations of the CRL site.
  • Engaging leadership and oversight to drive operational excellence in human performance and commitment management.
  • Providing the necessary leadership and oversight for new activities, projects, and facilities planned for the organization.
  • Ensuring the organization strives to meet "best practices" for operations, focusing on strong interface management from a "demanding customer" perspective.
  • Meeting and developing corporate targets for safety and financial performance and supporting implementing ongoing work on policies and procedures.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating department staff.
  • Interpreting and applying knowledge of National, Provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Maintaining effective interactions with union trades, subcontractors, clients, regulators, citizen groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating prompt resolution of field problems and issues regarding non-conformance reports, condition reports, stop work orders, and corrective action reports.
  • Providing a field presence to monitor activities and verify safe workmanship, quality, and procedure compliance.
  • Ensuring adequate and qualified staff to fulfill the regulatory and business needs of the project.
  • Understanding, complying with, and holding all employees accountable to environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the monthly ERM VP report and Performance Management reports.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • An engineering or science degree or equivalent in education/training and experience.
  • Experience
    • 15-20 years of significant and varied experience in site operations.
    • Established track record for oversight and delivery of site operations, including maintenance and/or construction activities.
    • Robust knowledge of processes, techniques, and applications for managing scope, cost, schedule, and other key operations parameters.
    • Ability to work with a broad direction and provide appropriate input to executive management.
    • Good time management and work scheduling skills to meet shifting priorities.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
