All Store Manager

The primary role of the Store Manager is to operate an efficient business that provides an outstanding guest experience with a knowledgeable professional team. The Store Manager achieves this by controlling costs, contributing to business plans in a way that will improve sales, profitability and in-store execution and fostering a team of well-informed compassionate educators.

With experience in retail management, you are capable of building and motivating a team of outgoing, results-oriented sales staff that act as brand ambassadors inside and outside of the store. Recognizing that we operate in a burgeoning industry, you see the immense value in our retail locations as billboards for the brand and take pride in improving all aspects of the store to ensure the store’s success within the recreational cannabis landscape.
Store Standards
- Ensure all store product is displayed and priced with full up to date information.
- Maintain an efficient standardized back of house lay-out to maximize filling efficiency, ease of re-stocking, ease of inventory counting and control of shrink.
- Ensure the interior and exterior of the store are tidy and welcoming each day.
- Oversee all aspects of the store inventory file in the POS system; manage damages and inventory adjustments.
- Ensure POS transactions and end of day cash reconciliation is accurate and follow-up on any discrepancies.
- Maintain and control the product card library; order new or replacement cards as needed.
- Manage the store schedule to ensure best possible floor coverage, while also minimizing labour expense.
- Review and approve staff schedules (clock in/clock out, breaks etc) weekly if not daily.
- Be a brand ambassador; representing the brand when required for media or community events.
Security/Compliance
- Fully understand your responsibilities as a certified Store Manager with regards to AGCO Requirements.
- Ensure store security systems are operational and utilized when necessary to investigate security or shrink concerns.
- Follow-up and report on any suspicious incidents of guest or team member behavior.
- Carry out any required store audits to maintain accuracy and compliance to company standards.
- Take responsibility as required by law for store Health and Safety programs, following legislated programs and reporting requirements
People Leadership
- Ensure staff receive daily, weekly and ad-hoc communication on new products, sales and developments within the fast growing industry.
- Train staff to engage with all levels of guests, inexperienced to connoisseurs.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to maximize business; identify on-going recruitment needs and conduct recruitment with the assistance of HR.
- Onboard new employees ensuring they are adequately trained to carry out their job roles prior to their first solo shift.
- Identify strong performers and ensure development plans are in place, with appropriate and approved increases in responsibilities.
- Provide coaching and progressive corrective actions to staff that are underperforming with guidance from HR.
- Train and update all staff members on H&S requirements.
- Any other reasonable duties as required by store ownership.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years work experience in the retail or related service industry.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in a supervisory/management role.
- High School diploma and or post-secondary education in Business Accounting courses or equivalent will be considered an asset.
- Proven ability to lead a team of 10+ team members.
Background
- Prior work experience in a regulated environment is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of and experience working with Cannabis industry would be considered an asset.
- Desire and ability to develop a positive in-depth understanding of cannabis.
- Confident analyzing sales reports, identifying business trends, and responding accordingly for the business.
- Strong floor leadership and coaching skills to develop and motivate a sales team.
- Must be enthusiastic, friendly, optimistic, outgoing, and a team player.
- Interested in developing employees and fostering a learning environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Ability to analyze data to make decisions.
- Must have excellent attendance and professionalism.
- Detail oriented and able to handle cash, and operate a POS register.
- Strong organizational, communication, time management and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Available to work rotating shifts including: days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, some holidays.
- Valid CannSell certification or ability to obtain certification.
