This position is based in Toronto and requires in-person attendance.What You'll Be DoingThe Investment Banking Associate role at Stifel Canada is challenging and stimulating. Associates will support a team of senior investment banking professionals and focus on client presentations, industry and company-specific research, financial modeling and mentoring Analysts. As the individual’s career progresses, Associates will be expected to take on increased responsibilities including managing live transactions and interacting with clients.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities.Create pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participate in their presentation to clients.Be integral to the execution of transactions, solving complex problems using rigorous analytical techniques, leading workstreams and driving deliverables, and regularly presenting to senior executives.Analyze detailed corporate and industry financial information, and conduct due diligence.Develop financial models related to merger and acquisition transactions, company/asset valuations and capital raises.Create and maintain databases including precedent transactions and market comparables.Develop relationships with new and existing clients.Collaborate cross-functionally within investment banking divisions, working across product groups and regional office locations.Assist in the generation of marketing materials including introductory presentations and confidential information; provide direction and feedback to Analysts; mentor Analysts.What You'll BringStrong financial/analytical skills related to corporate finance and securities analysis.Self-motivated with a drive to generate business.High degree of work ethic and motivation, including willingness to work long hours in peak periods.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work in an open office and team environment.Proven initiative and problem-solving proficiency.Strong interest in and understanding of financial markets.Education & ExperienceMinimum required: One of the following undergraduate degrees: 1) Business with a focus on finance, or 2) Engineering (Mining focus) or Geology with understanding of financial concepts.Post-secondary education such as MBA or professional designations (CFA or CA/CPA) are strongly desired.At a minimum, two to four years of full-time work experience in corporate finance, investment banking, accounting or private equity is required.Systems & TechnologyExpertise with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).Experience with financial markets software and applications including Bloomberg, FactSet and Capital IQ.About StifelStifel Canada is a leading provider of investment banking services, offering debt and equity capital markets, financial advisory, and investment services.
