Join to apply for the Speech Language Pathologist, MBS Procedures role at Fraser Health AuthorityThe salary range for this position is CAD $42.27 - $52.81 / hourJob SummaryFraser Health is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations, and is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.Our team of nearly 45,000 staff, medical staff and volunteers is dedicated to serving our patients, families and communities to deliver on our vision: Better health, best in health care.We are currently looking to fill a Casual opportunity for a Speech Language Pathologist, MBS Procedures at Eagle Ridge Hospital located in Port Moody, BC.Eagle Ridge Hospital is a 168 bed hospital in Port Moody, British Columbia, serving the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.Come work with usJoining our team offers you opportunities to work in a rapidly growing organization with health professionals who are excellent in their respective fields, career growth and advancement, a competitive compensation package, and the rewarding opportunity to make a difference every single day in health care.Detailed OverviewProvides speech language pathology services in accordance with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC) standards of practice, Fraser Health mission, values and speech language pathology acute care standard, and in collaboration and partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of patient and family centered care.ResponsibilitiesPerforms Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) procedures for the majority of time and provides speech language assessment of the patient's communication, speech and swallow functional abilities, needs, and goals.Analyzes the patient's needs, establishes speech language and dysphagia diagnosis and prognosis and develops an evidence-based, outcome-focused intervention strategy.Implements interventions in accordance with established treatment guidelines and educates patients and caregivers regarding self-management, health promotion and injury/disability prevention.Participates in the interprofessional care planning process for patients as appropriate.Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of interventions.Participates in maintaining seamless quality patient care by identifying appropriate referrals for speech language pathology services.Collaborates with patients and their families/care givers in developing the care plan.Maintains a variety of records including patient files.Delegates components of treatment to speech and hearing assistants.Acts as a speech language resource to other speech language pathologists, speech and hearing assistants, and students.Participates in team/program activities required to enhance and optimize the delivery of care.QualificationsCurrent registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC).
