Overview Under the direction of the General Manager, the Health and Wellness Manager is responsible for the health and wellness of residents in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and standards of Verve Senior Living. Salary: CAD 75,000 annually. Qualifications Recognized nursing license (LPN) and maintain good standing. Excellent leadership skills (e.g., DiversityCare/Verve Senior Living Competencies). Fluency in written and verbal English. Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel) and experience working within a union setting. Preference for individuals with 2 or more years of experience working with seniors. A resident‑oriented individual whose values align with those of DiversityCare. Responsibilities Participate in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program. Complete pre‑move‑in and ongoing assessments of residents’ health and wellness needs and make recommendations to appropriate departments or the General Manager regarding suitability for residence and needs. Ensure residents’ files are established, documented, and safe medication administration practices are followed. Organize a plan of care to promote resident independence based on legislation (e.g., RHRA). Update residents’ plans of care every six months or as required. Recruit, interview, and select new employees; develop staff to meet service and job standards; conduct annual performance appraisals; address performance issues. Prep and manage staff scheduling, including shift changes, vacation, and leaves of absence. Hold regular department meetings to communicate and update employees per Verve policies. Provide input into capital and operational budget preparation and variance reports. Manage department finance, inventory, purchasing; review and promote revenue‑generating initiatives; approve or sign off on invoices. Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System; recognize hazards, report incidents, participate in in‑services and fire drills; implement infection prevention control protocols. Comply with all relevant corporate policies and procedures; make recommendations for policy development or modification. Participate and contribute during operations meetings. Complete all required mandatory training/education. Build internal and external relationships with residents, families, hospitals, government departments, etc.; advocate, collaborate, and communicate empathetically to achieve optimal wellness outcomes. Work with Sales and Marketing to raise awareness of the residence and services. Perform other related tasks delegated by the General Manager.
