Reporting to the East End Family HealthTeam (EEFHT) Executive Director, the successful candidate will collaborate withEEFHT interdisciplinary team members and provide counselling and psychotherapyservices to patients, using evidence-based therapeutic techniques andapproaches. They will help educate clients on various mental health topics andthey will help the patient develop healthy coping strategies to effectivelymanage their mental health. The incumbent will use a client-centered approach todeliver culturally competent care that is adapted to meet the unique needs ofthe patient. They will maintain accurate and confidential patient records, includingprogress notes, treatment plans, and assessments.

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and assessments of clients;
  • Establish and implement treatment plans;
  • Effectively manage the counselling relationship with clients;
  • Maintain patient records; and
  • Maintain high standards of professional competence and ethical behaviour.

What you will need to be considered:

  • Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or relevant/related field; 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a related position, ideally in a community-based setting that includes counselling and/or trauma-informed care;
  • Experience working with community agencies and resources in a related capacity;
  • Current Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or Current Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario;
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Substitute Decision Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA);
  • Ability to provide copy of a vulnerable sector and criminal record check
