Field Based - Electrical Technologist - Testing & Commissioning Join the team at Phasor Engineering Inc and play a key role in the testing and commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical systems. This full‑time, on‑site position offers a dynamic environment where your problem‑solving skills and attention to detail will be challenged across all stages of production. Back‑check screening, including identity verification and criminal background check, is required for all staff. Responsibilities Manage and lead a commissioning crew of workers. Test and commission MV/HV power system protection & control schemes in utility, power generation and oil & gas industries. Read, interpret drawings and troubleshoot technical issues. Train and develop employees to meet the highest performance standards. Prepare and submit reports. Assist with the generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions. Ensure compliance with all safety practices per corporate, client, and industry standards. Initiate and respond to customer inquiries, discuss trouble details and confirm resolutions. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute. Eligible for registration with APEGGA, ASET, or similar. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power system protection and controls including SCADA, relay protection, metering, equipment functionalities, and telecom networks. Minimum 2+ years of proven experience in medium or high voltage utility substations and power generation, with supervisory role leading projects in greenfield and brownfield substations. Experience with relay testing of microprocessor‑based protection IEDs (SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE, etc.) using fully automated test equipment (Omicron CMC356) and test data management. Experience in high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning (power transformers, reactors, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, surge arrestors, disconnect switches, capacitor and reactor banks, etc.). Testing and commissioning per NETA/IEEE/IEC standards. Strong understanding of CSA Z462 safety standards. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; extreme attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills. Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem‑solving skills. NETA Testing Certification is an asset. Background checks and drug & alcohol pre‑access testing will be required. Requirements Legal ability to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not available. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work for extended periods out of town. Additional Information Typical out-of-town shifts include 10/4, 14/7, 14/14. Working hours generally 7 am‑5:30 pm; 10 hrs/day. Relocation is not required; candidates may fly in/out of current home base. Daily work hours and shifts may change based on project requirements; applicants must be flexible.
