Bright Start Program Assistant VolunteerOrganizational Description: NorWest Co-op Community Health Centre has served the Inkster community in northwestWinnipeg since 1972. NorWest is a forerunner in taking a multi-service, holistic, team approach to health care. We provide a wide range of health related services including medical care, counselling, education and community outreach.Volunteer Opportunity DetailsVolunteer Opportunity ID: 5656Description of Duties:Help with set up of the room or gym; including play space, toys, carpet, books and activitiesSupport staff in delivery of program and do any other general tasks as requestedCooperate with staff and other volunteers to share and initiate tasksFirst time guests should be offered information pamphlet and be directed fill out registration formAssist with providing site information to first time guests including registration, program, play activities, timelines, services, washrooms, water fountainInteract with families and refer parents to service providers if they have questionsFollow the lead of the Bright Start Staff to participate in play activitiesHelp implement any surveys or questionnairesFollow staff directions to help with food preparation according to staff guidelines and food safetyHelp with table set-up, plates and utensils and serving food as appropriateKeep kitchen clean, wash dishes and sanitize according to staff directionsHelp to clean up program space, sanitize and put away toys and equipmentCheck with staff before leaving, return name tags and write down or ask if staff wrote down your hoursSkills Required:Interest in family healthComfortable with and enjoy childrenInterest in preparing foodRespectful, nonjudgmental, positive attitudeUnderstand NorWest's vision, mission and valuesOutgoing with a willingness to take initiativeSkills Gained/Related Careers:Child Care AssistantSocial ServicesCommunity DevelopmentAge: 16-17, 18-30, 31-54, 55+Time Commitment: DaytimeTuesday 9:15 AM - 12:00 PMBright Start Gilbert at Gilbert Park GymWednesday 9:15 AM - 12:00 PMBright Start Access at NorWest Co-op Community HealthThursday 9:15 AM - 12:00 PMBright Start WestBrook at Weston Community CentreCan commit to one or more days and locationsLocation of volunteer opportunity: WinnipegDoes opportunity require a criminal record check?
