We are looking for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer for our Peterborough, Ontario site.

JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Manager, this role entails supporting the technical direction for the overall project and supporting technical interfacing to both internal and external customers. The Instrumentation & Controls Engineering department largely focuses on the control systems and instrumentation involved within Fuel Handling Systems, other parts of the plant, tooling, medical isotope systems as well as remote delivery machines. These systems are often complex and are in specialized areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare elementary drawings/schematics, electrical assembly drawings, single line diagrams, equipment specifications, technical documents in compliance with applicable codes & standards.
  2. Liaise with personnel from various customer groups like design, operations, and maintenance to gather site-specific design information.
  3. Execute walk downs of various equipment in the plant.
  4. Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  5. Ensure designs comply with applicable company, technical, and regulatory standards.
  6. Participate in design reviews and customer review meetings, providing stakeholder and design input.
  7. Test execution/commissioning of complex equipment and systems.
  8. Review selection of components and equipment (e.g motors, cables, relays, junction boxes).
  9. Adhere to on-time/on-budget criteria associated with project commitments and customer success.
  10. Support the development and estimating of engineering proposals.
  11. Ensure that design supports manufacturability and complies with requirements.
  12. Provide assurance of health and safety associated with the execution of all projects and activities.
  13. Short term travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients and stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  1. B.A.Sc. in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control/Automation or related discipline Engineering.
  2. Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
  3. Typically requires 3 years’ experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, Oil and Gas, Mining, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Creative problem-solving skills and outstanding analytical abilities.
