Owen Sound Vet Clinic is looking for an energetic and friendly Hospital Manager to lead and grow a supportive, engaging, and collaborative veterinary hospital environment. The role offers a progressive workplace where each team member is heard and recognized. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week over 5 days. Key Duties & Responsibilities Provide onsite leadership and oversight of the veterinary health care team to maximize overall business performance of the hospital. Lead the continuous improvement of customer service and medical care quality. Ensure smooth communication throughout a client’s visit and resolve client concerns alongside the Medical Director. Oversee client communication such as welcome letters, sympathy cards, and newsletters in accordance with hospital protocols and approved timelines. Implement team scripting, in‑hospital marketing, and social media content to capture new clients, strengthen existing relationships, increase referrals, and generate community goodwill. Meet client needs for timely veterinary care, track new client and patient activity, and achieve predetermined goals for appointment and surgery fill rates. Ensure the team has sufficient and appropriate resources to deliver exceptional patient care. Manage the financial drivers of the hospital, including cost of sales as a percent of revenue, inventory levels, and budgeting. Work with Regional Manager and Medical Director to review the operating budget and hospital business plan. Prioritize equipment and facility needs, assist with sourcing and purchasing, and prepare financial, bookkeeping, and accounting reports. Predict staffing needs, verify financial health supports planned new hires, and authorize monthly schedules. Serve as a positive role model, fostering open, proactive, and cooperative relationships. Recruit, mentor, and retain a high‑morale team, emphasizing accountability and teamwork. Monitor key performance indicators, implement action plans, and ensure hospital initiatives meet expectations and timelines. Review data management feedback, implement strategies to elevate patient care, and capture revenue opportunities. Maintain up‑to‑date fee schedules, monitor discounting, and investigate revenue discrepancies. Analyze operational data to inform decisions on asset purchases, staffing, rate changes, and conflict resolution. Ensure compliance with all voluntary and mandatory controls, standards, and regulations (e.g., Employment Standards, WHMIS, OHS). Provide coaching, development, training, mentorship, and education as required. Assist with reception coverage, including client intake, discharge, scheduling, and front‑office flow when needed. Qualifications Minimum two years of onsite leadership experience overseeing a veterinary or medical health care team (preferred). Education or training in business administration (preferred). In‑depth understanding of human resources and proven experience leading and innovating practices. Vision for fostering an inclusive, employee‑centric culture. Experience developing strategic multi‑year business plans, resource forecasts, and managing operational budgets. Expertise in coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management. Proven ability to build and nurture relationships at all levels. Strong influence and communication skills. Progressive, strategic, humble, and achievement‑oriented mindset.
