YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by three interconnected lakes with 8 km of shoreline; it has over 26 km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and 60 buildings. In this role, you will: Provide leadership to the camp team by supporting the Camp Director and Coordinator in delivering health and wellness training sessions focused on both physical and mental health and safety. Support the overall health and wellness of the camp community by actively providing resources, reviewing camper and staff health forms, monitoring pertinent health information that requires special attention, and conducting regular check‑ins with staff and campers. Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment to protect the well‑being of all campers, staff, and volunteers. Support campers and staff in having a positive experience at camp by conducting regular check‑ins with campers, camper groups, and counsellors. Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including maintaining complete and timely records of accidents, incidents, and all documentation related to the camp wellness program. Respond to first aid situations promptly and with care, ensuring appropriate communication with the Camp Director, external healthcare professionals, and parents as necessary. Dispense camper medication according to instructions provided on camper health forms. Support the out‑tripping program by conducting pre‑ and post‑trip health checks, assisting counsellors in packing and inventorying first aid kits, and ensuring proper medical preparedness for all trips. Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arrive on time, actively participate, and contribute to the development and learning of all staff members. Build and maintain positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Act as a positive role model for all participants and staff by embodying the values of the YMCA, following Pine Crest’s guiding principles, and adhering to YMCA policies, procedures, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned. You bring: Standard First Aid and CPR‑C required by the start date and valid for the duration of the contract. Currently enrolled in post‑secondary education such as Nursing, Child and Youth Studies, or Social Work considered an asset. Previous experience working with children, preferably in a health and wellness setting. Valid driver’s license. Mental Health First Aid certification. Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Well‑developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers. Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff. Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner. Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
