Protective Services Officer II – Rural Mobile Unit (RMU) Join to apply for the Protective Services Officer II – Rural Mobile Unit (RMU) role at Alberta Health Services. Protective Services is a 24‑hour, 7‑day department that employs sworn Community Peace Officers to ensure a superior level of safety and security to all patients, visitors, and employees at our facilities. The services provided integrate with clinical partners using a patient‑ and family‑centered care approach, emphasizing customer service. As a member of Protective Services, the Officer will interact with diverse populations with unique and specialized needs, support facility departments on security and safety practices, review and recommend policy, and foster and maintain positive public relations. Description As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff, and AHS property, including violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons; and first responder duties during critical events. You will support facility departments on matters of security and safety practices and participate in reviewing and recommending policy. Classification and Details Classification: Protective Services Officer II Union: AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Protective Services Primary Location: Hinton Healthcare Centre Location Details: As Per Location Multi‑Site: Multisite FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 04‑DEC‑2025 Employee Class: Regular Full‑Time Date Available: 14‑DEC‑2025 Hours per Shift: 12 Length of Shift in weeks: 8 Shifts per Cycle: 26 Shift Pattern: 4 On 4 Off Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, On Call Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $33.42 Maximum Salary: $38.27 Vehicle Requirement: Driver’s License, Vehicle Provided Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6‑week program). Valid Class 5 (non‑GDL) Driver’s Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minutes, within 6 months prior to commencing employment. Additional Required Qualifications Alberta Class 5 operator’s licence, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions. Eligibility for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public. No past criminal records resulting in a pardon that could make you ineligible for appointment, and no current or past investigations or misconduct as a Peace Officer. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of two years of related work experience OR a related degree or diploma. Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services (military, forestry, park ranger, corrections, peace officer). CPI Non‑violent Crisis Intervention training and Pressure Point Control Tactic certificates are assets. Experience within a healthcare setting.
