The Enterprise Data Architect designs and manages the structure and organization of the town’s data systems. The Enterprise Data Architect plays a critical role in making sure the town’s data infrastructure effectively supports the town’s strategic priorities while ensuring the effective translation of business requirements into actionable plans. Your expertise in data management, business analysis, and solution design will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining a robust enterprise data management framework across the organization.

  • Design, maintain and oversee the development and implementation of conceptual, logical and physical data models for the entire organization, ensuring consistency and standardization across different divisions, departments and commissions based on best practices and complying with legal and regulatory standards (e.g. li>
  • Collaborate closely with key partners and business areas to assess business needs and data requirements, identifying data sources, types of data needed and how the data will be used. Translates data requirements into technical specifications for data architecture.
  • Oversees the integration of master data management (MDM) frameworks to centralize key data elements; li>
  • Creates inventory of significant data and information initiatives in the organization; Drives innovation and continuous improvement in how data is used and managed at the Town of Oakville.
  • Provides technical expertise to leadership and the organization’s data stewards, including data conceptualization, project planning and post-implementation best practice.
  • Ensures the town’s data architecture supports strong data governance practices, including data quality, security, compliance and proper data usage.
  • Assists in development of principles, policies, standards and procedures that dictate how data is managed throughout its lifecycle at the Town of Oakville.
  • Designs data models and structures that enforce governance rules, such as standardized data formats, consistent naming conventions and proper relationships between data entities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data architecture methodologies and processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role, with a focus on enterprise-wide data management from a business standpoint. li>
  • Certificate in relevant disciplines such as Certified Data Management Professional, The Open Group Architecture Framework or other relevant cloud architecture, design certifications would be considered an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration, data quality, and master data management concepts.
