Vice Principal & Secondary School Teacher

We have expectations of professional deportment as well as the implementation of educational practices in accordance with Ontario Ministry of education policies.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach or tutor Ontario high school credit courses in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines
  • Responsible for course development based on Ontario Curriculum Grade 9 - 12, and ensuring that every teacher meets the curriculum requirements.
  • Overseeing the delivery of OSSD credit courses and ensure curriculum and course outlines are up to date in preparation for inspection.
  • Oversee curriculum development and teacher recruiting and training at the school
  • Plan, organize, supervise, control and evaluate the activities of teachers and support staff.
  • Work closely with and report to the Managing Directors on regular basis.
  • Assist in marketing the school and attract students to the school
  • Supervise to ensure duties of Teachers are delivered as stipulated in the guidelines; oversee teacher’s absences and coverage of classes.
  • Oversee all essential school documentation (student files, report cards, teacher planning, field trips forms etc.)
  • Develop and follow the guidelines for student behaviour, and ensures that an acceptable level of behaviour is maintained in a manner which fosters a positive school climate and positive relationships;
  • Ensure that students are provided with necessary and available support plans and services to meet OSSD requirements and university application requirements.
  • The school is open to international students and as such, some international travel may be required.
  • Other duties for operating the school on a day-to-day basis as required

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have at least two (2) year teaching experience at Grade 12 level and strong understanding of the Ontario High School Curriculum, previous experience in a leadership or administrative role within an educational setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Education policies, procedures, regulations pertaining to secondary school education and the Growing Success Documents, including assessments for For/As/Of Learning
  • A clear understanding of curriculum delivery, teaching methods, and class observation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in working with students, teachers and parents.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive school culture and promoting student well-being.
  • Preference will be given to those who are registered with OCT and/or experience teaching international students.
