Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.What You’ll Be DoingThis SMB IT role blends hands‑on problem solving with strategic planning. You’ll be the key technology partner for our office team (≈25 users) and the steady hand behind systems supporting seasonal field deployments.ResponsibilitiesManage all IT policies, systems, hardware, software, and security across the head office, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and easy to use for non‑technical staff.Establish and maintain IT risk management practices, including data protection, user access controls, and incident response preparedness.Support the setup, rotation, and management of field communications equipment (Starlink, satellite phones, InReach devices).Oversee cloud‑based platforms (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, SaaS finance, scheduling, payroll tools), ensuring smooth integration and daily usability.Lead development of a fit‑for‑purpose technology roadmap supporting Matrix’s operational expansion and evolving field needs.Coordinate backup schedules, data security practices, device and identity management, and user access permissions.Implement cost‑effective IT solutions that scale with business growth, balancing in‑house management with third‑party vendor support where appropriate.Design and procure remote surveillance setups (solar‑powered monitoring systems) and coordinate Wi‑Fi infrastructure kits for temporary remote camps.Promote cybersecurity awareness across the team through simple training and user‑friendly guidelines for safe technology use in office and field environments.Act as a calm, responsive, and resourceful IT lead supporting end users who may not have a technical background.Travel ExpectationsEstimated 10–20 days/year to attend relevant trade shows/conf­ferences and support complex field‑based tech installs.
