37.5 hours per weekEveryMind Mental Health Services is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Quality Improvement Specialist with an interest in the non-profit health sector to join our team.EveryMind is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high-quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges.Job SummaryThe Quality Improvement Specialist (QI) performs a key role in ensuring that the System Planning and Accountability Department develops quality improvement processes and supports risk management processes that increase the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of clinical services and provides information that supports evidence-based decision making in keeping with EveryMind’s mission, vision, values, and philosophy.Reporting to the Manager, Performance Measurement and Improvement, and working closely with the Chief Officer, System Planning and Accountability, the QI Specialist is responsible for the identification, measurement, monitoring and reporting of service quality, client safety, client and stakeholder feedback, the implementation of evidence-based practices in the areas of continuous quality improvement, including client safety and supporting the agency’s risk management processes.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, design and implement data collection procedures and tools to support quality improvement and risk management processes within the organization.Measure the quality of existing services in satisfying the needs of clients and community stakeholders and solicit feedback on key areas for improvement.Explore and recommend quality improvement processes and methodologies that facilitate their integration into day-to-day clinical work by consulting with staff, management, clients and community stakeholders.Engage with key stakeholders to ensure that quality improvement and client safety methods are developed using a participatory, collaborative, utilization-focused lens.Utilize CQI tools to document the development of new programs, improve service delivery processes of existing services, and ensure that client information systems reflect clinical processes.Develop, support and maintain a client incident management reporting system.Create and support a culture of continuous quality improvement through the development and implementation of quality improvement processes and methods.Build EveryMind’s knowledge of and capacity for continuous quality improvement and client safety principles and methodologies.Support and coordinate the development of continuous quality improvement and risk management plans and frameworks that are aligned with EveryMind’s strategic priorities.Lead/participate in process reviews, incident reviews, and root cause analyses to develop and monitor required action plans.Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to develop, design, describe, deploy, and support the delivery of quality improvement and client safety, and risk management initiatives/projects.Gather data from a variety of internal and external sources.Provide management with comprehensive and timely data reports, including recommendations, to assist with monitoring and decision-making processes for improving clinical services.Develop and implement processes and strategies and set standards for data collection that ensure the integrity of quality indicator data.Train and support staff responsible for the collection and input of quality data.Analyse data using the appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative techniques.Summarize and present data using a variety of formats that ensures information is easily shared and understood by all stakeholders.Communicate outcomes, action plans, and project statuses to relevant committees, leadership, frontline staff, and other key stakeholders.Provide support and consultation to EveryMind management and staff regarding the measurement and interpretation of data.Ensure the maintenance of quality improvement data sets.Maintain up to date knowledge regarding the needs and issues of the child and youth mental health sector.Liaise with staff, external colleagues, professional associations and other institutions regarding quality improvement, client safety, and risk management activities.Coordinate accreditation through the appropriate accrediting bodies.Manage quality improvements and client safety projects by developing and tracking project milestones, performance measures, and dashboards.Maintain up to date knowledge in the areas of quality assurance, quality improvement, statistical methods and risk management.Ensure all tasks completed are carried out in compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards, and with EveryMind’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.Skills and QualificationsMaster’s Degree in a related field with eligibility for membership in the appropriate professional association or the equivalent combination of education and experience.A minimum of three years directly related experience in quality improvement and risk management.Applied knowledge of quality improvement, client safety and risk management processes, methods and statistical techniques including design, analyses, conceptual rigour, and knowledge dissemination.Excellent statistical software skills with high proficiency in Excel and SPSS.Extensive experience with databases and data management processes, including collection, monitoring, and audit protocols that ensure data integrity and facilitate analyses and reporting.Familiarity with children’s mental health services and evaluation techniques are assets.Certification related to quality improvement is an asset.Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft suite of tools, search engines, and web-based platforms.Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share and present information to all stakeholders.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills, with a keen attention to detail.Excellent project management skills and proven ability to work on multiple projects, concurrently.Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently, as well as part of a team.Valid Ontario driver’s license, use of a vehicle and the ability to work in a variety of settings.A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening is
